Himalaya's Baby Massage Oil

When it comes to caring for your baby, you want the best possible in everything, be it gear, nursing and feeding equipment, or bathing products.

I recently got the Himalaya Baby Massage Oil for my little one, and have been happily using it since the last fortnight.

My mother-in-law, grandmother and even the dai or maalish-wali we had hired for the first couple of  months,  swear by massaging baby daily, and recommend olive oil for this. The other baby oils I received as gifts were mineral oils and of-course there is no comparison. Olive oil is supposed to be the purest, and most beneficial for baby. In-fact once at a parlor, the beautician recommended me to massage my scalp using olive oil! Some may prefer mustard oil, but it generates a lot of heat plus has a repulsive odor. Maybe in regions where it is too cold, it makes more sense. But in a tropical place like Mumbai, olive oil is the answer.

Coming back to the product, it smells good, not good as in artificial “perfume” good.. It smells pure, one can say. My baby's skin is soft, hydrated and moisturized after his oiling and bathing routine, and I'm quite happy with the results!

About the product:

An excellent massage oil that nourishes, and moisturizes skin. Enriched with Olive Oil  and  Winter Cherry, Himalaya Baby Massage Oil improves skin tone and soothes baby’s skin.

Satiating Sunday at Pot Pourri, Vashi

I'm a foodie and Sundays call for some good food for the soul. We decided to go back to Pot Pourri since the last time I went there, it was for the buffet and I really wanted to try out their À la carte menu offerings. You can find their address and contact details on AskMe.Com.

Pot Pourri at Inorbit Mall, Vashi offers world cuisine - Mexican, Italian, Asian, American everything. We ordered the Jalapeno poppers and Nachos for starters.

The Jalapeno Poppers are the best thing I have ever had! No kidding. The melting cheese and flavour of Jalapeno is such a great combination, and pleasant change from the corn-cheese balls. I could have ordered 2 more rounds of this had I not been watching my calories.

The nachos were pretty good too,  but the sauce was more creamy than cheesy, I would have liked it more if it was melted cheese. But the quantity is massive, we were half full by the time it got over.

For drinks we ordered a Lemon-Honey-Green Tea Iced and a Cranberry based Cooler. The cooler was mind-blowingly refreshing. The Iced Tea was good too. Interestingly, they serve it in hot water with ice on the top. It comes with the tea bag inserted, waiting to be infused into the water. This makes so much sense, since the tea will infuse better in hot water, but since it's iced tea, it needs to cool rapidly, hence all the ice. Quite impressive, have not seen this elsewhere.

For main-course we ordered the classic Margherita Pizza. It was simply put, a classic. Right amount of basil, cheese and really juicy slices of tomato - all this put together will make any authentic Italian lover extremely happy! I really wanted to try their 'Indian Pizza' that had paneer and spices, but was too full. Maybe next time!

The only sad part was that there were no desserts at all! Apparently it had all got over in the day. That totally sucked, and our dinner was over on a slightly incomplete note. But otherwise, it was totally worth it. Service was not extra-ordinary, but on a Sunday evening at peak time, it is a very common story.

Interesting social media campaigns executed by the brand for Asus Zenfone2.

If you remember reading, I have already mentioned how I love the new Asus Zenfone 2. It is the best mid level phone in the market right now. Not as expensive as a Iphone or Nexus 6, yet has everything to offer. It is definitely a beauty AND a beast.

Behind the awesome phone, is a even more epic marketing team, coming up with brilliant social media campaigns that absolutely blew my mind.

1) Agent Z
The uber cool comparison of the Zenfone 2 with a spy agent is legendary. The phone has features of a spy and it has the cool mysterious feel to it. Check the site out: http://www.agent-z.in/. Who doesn't want their smartphone to also be their personal agent? They also used this for the official product launch that happened at the Kingdom of Dreams, Delhi.

2) India Unseen Project
In this campaign they did not promote the Zenfone 2 at all, very classy I feel. They simply asked people to share rare images of India and share to win prizes. The grand prize are of-course Zenfone 2s along with flipkart vouchers. In-fact this competition is still on till 10th July 2015, do try entering here: http://asusindiapromo.com/India_Unseen_Project/ I am going to try putting an entry, though the competition is really tough.

3) Zenfone 2 Night Walkers
I found this campaign to be the most unique and exciting. Maybe specially because I am a Mumbaiite.  A group of instagrammers got together to show the city that never sleeps in a never seen before manner. All images are captured using the Zenfone 2, and that says a lot about it's mind-blowing camera! Take a look for yourself: http://asusindiapromo.com/Zenfone2NightWalkers/
I wish I could have been a part of this, but looking at the pictures is also very delightful.

I totally love how the Asus Zenfone 2's social media campaigns has brought people together to celebrate a city or a country. I am still waiting to get my hands on the beautiful Zenfone 2 and try all the features . Do follow them on their social media handles - @AsusIndia & facebook.com/AsusIndia

Mistress of Honour - Book Review

I do not really know anyone from the army, so this book really fascinated me and there was a newly found respect for the 'jawaans' after reading this book.

It is a easy to read, interesting, fast paced book and I finished reading it in a matter of hours. Written by Bhaavna Arora and inspired from real life stories, it is a captivating romantic and thrilling novel. I would really want to know which parts are based on real life events!

The story has two parts. First Pansy's love story followed by her daughter Rihana's. I personally liked Pansy's story more than her daughters. You even get to know about the history of wars in our country, and I like the humour elements like Shamsher & Potnis's friendship or Advik and gang's schooling days.

You can grab a copy on Flipkart, Amazon etc. I now am looking forward to reading the previous book written by Bhaavna - The Deliberate Sinner.

Booking a local train ticket using the UTS mobile app.

Hi fellow Mumbaiites!
If you are reading this then you also are a middle class traveler, who cannot afford a car and chauffeur (or hates the bumper to bumper road traffic) and does not like travelling in the bus too. Hence the best option left, is the local train!

Indian Railways have launched a new app called UTS that allows you to book tickets right from your smartphone. Yes, you heard me right! To good to be true? Let me show you how it's done.

Once you register your mobile number, this is the landing page. Choose normal booking unless you have a saved route. In that case, you can opt for Quick booking. Make sure you have recharged your wallet. You can do so here.

Next you select source and destination from the drop list. Usually typing the first 3-4 letters should be enough.

Then you can choose no. of tickets, single or return journey, class, etc and click on get fare. It will confirm the amount and ask to book the ticket. Once done, you will get a confirmation message on the app's screen plus a sms. The 3 digit booking code and your registered mobile number is all you need now.

This is the part that confused me at first. The confirmation message asks you to collect a print out from the station. I got confused, where to go ask since I have never seen any printout collection counter as such. But I asked at CST station and got to know that it means the ATVM machine.

In the ATVM Machine you'll see an option in the right corner down-side saying print mobile ticket. Touch that and you shall be asked to type your registered mobile number and the 3 digit booking code.

Once you press submit, it processes your request and spits out the ticket. As simple and fast as that. Now you must be thinking, why would I not use my existing ATVM card. But the difference is the wallet recharge and carrying the card. To recharge the card you need to again stand in queue vs. the app that requires you to recharge online. And what if you forgot to carry your ATVM card, possibility of forgetting to carry your phone is much lower.

I have been using the app ever since and find it very convenient. I book the ticket before reaching station and simply print and go! People who are not aware of this facility stare at me do a card-less transaction and look in awe. I almost feel like a spy agent. Hahahahaha..

Springtime freshness this monsoon thanks to Ambi Pur Air Effects!

Today, something fresh and delightful came in my mail. No, not a bouquet of flowers, but something even better and long-lasting - the all new Ambi Pur Air Effects - Blossoms & Breeze.

To counter and get rid of that, the Blogadda team was very kind to send across a Air Freshener! The first thing that caught my eye was the packaging. In its hues of pink, blue and purple; this product looks as lovely as it smells, and will not look weird or out of place when you keep it anywhere.

It has a easy to spray trigger, just hold and press in a sweeping motion! I remember the earlier sprays being the cap ones in which I used to most often loose the caps, sometimes the trigger used to be so hard that I used to have to use two hands to spray the air freshener (Yes, true story).

Coming to the smell, it has a very sweet, refreshing spring smell that makes me feel like I'm walking in the garden among freshly bloomed flowers! No wonder this particular fragrance is called Blossoms & Breeze.

In an instance the entire room's odors are vanished and there is this instant positive energy spread! I'm sure Vastu or Feng Shui do mention keeping your home away from bad odors! I was in an instant good mood even though the rains have made everything so gloomy and dull.

So all the kitchen odors, my baby peeing & pooping everywhere, the musty leakage smell thanks to the rains can now be single handedly combated with this new weapon aka Ambi Pur Air Effects!

Also available in other fragrances like Citrus, Lavender and Vanilla which I am totally buying one after the other every time it gets over. They are priced at Rs.250 and easily available to purchase online from all leading eCommerce portals.

Philips Avent Spout Cup - 200ml 6m+ Product Review

Now that my little one is 8 months old, I thought I should start some transitioning. Like decreasing the use of a pacifier, attempting to get rid of the bottle by slowly trying a mug, encouraging sign and verbal language, etc. Because, if we let them be as is, they're most likely to have the habit till they're 2-3 years old! I know kids who drink from the bottle till they're that old!

So I got Philips Avent Spout Cup 200 ML 6M+ for him. They come in three cute colours and are very pleasant to look at. Philips Avent is a brand trusted globally, when it comes to baby care. This is priced at Rs.365 and at par at how much a good quality milk bottle would cost.

What makes this spout cup different from others are the built quality, durability, design and science behind it. It won't easily break how many ever times my kiddo throws it, babies this age love doing that apparently. The smart spill-proof feature is it's biggest USP. Let the cup tilt, fall, let your baby play it with, the water or any other liquid won't spill. And the spout is soft and flexible, so it's not a very sudden change from the bottle nipple, and there is some familiarity for the baby.

The two handles allow toddlers to hold it while sitting and then drink from it. The bright colourful colours totally attracts my kid's attention. Though the flow is not as fast as a bottle, it is also good in a way, it would be tough for the baby to choke while sipping from this. I use it to give water to my baby. It might take time for your baby to get accustomed to it, but once they do, it will be a savior, since you don't need to hold the bottle for them anymore!

It is also available in bigger capacity sizes.

L'Oreal Paris SKIN PERFECT 20+ Product Review

Hi there! You must remember reading my blog a couple of months back on the L'Oreal Paris Skin Perfect range for 20's, 30's and 40's.

Well, I have used the cream for 2 months now and thought let's share the experience with all of you!

The plus: It's a light, easy to spread cream that melts on your skin; leaving a supple and moist feel along with white radiance! When I started using it, people noticed a slight difference in my complexion. If you have dry or combination skin; this is the cream for you. But it might not be the best thing for oily skin, or if you tend to perspire a lot on your face. It is long lasting, my skin would not feel dry or flaky at all, from morning to night. Plus the UV Filters take care of protection from sun rays.

The minus: As I said, this might not be the best choice for oily or sweaty skin. Also, the packaging is not travel friendly, I carried the cream on a couple of outstation trips and the turbulence caused leakage. Maybe a plastic tube travel friendly packaging?

Overall: Overall, I love the cream and what it does for my skin!

Raising a baby in a smartphone/gadget addiction household.

In today's Millennial age, technology is everything. Smartphones, internet on the go, 3D Printing, Instant Chatting and so on; our world revolves around gadgets.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I myself am a internet keeda and so very used to making my phone my newspaper, constantly checking my phone for notifications, mailbox for emails and the sort.

But what happens when a bundle of joy arrives at your home? A baby needs a lot of love and attention. A baby needs to be constantly monitored, specially once they start rolling, crawling and attempting to walk.

Of-course thanks to the very same technology I was referring to, there are now baby monitors and other gizmo available for you to monitor and see what your baby is doing. But some of us still prefer the old school way to be there for the baby physically, or have a relative or baby sitter do it.

Now thanks (not) to the easy access of internet due to 2G, 3G, Wifi; everyone is on social media and instant chatting platforms. Yes, be it my parents, in-laws or even grandparents; they're all on Facebook, Whatsapp etc.

Let's take a quick poll. Do you check your phone the first thing when you get up in the morning? Do you check your phone the last thing before you hit the sack at night? When your phone 'pings', is there an obsessive urge to check the notification come what may? If the answer to all these question is a bang on YES, then you my friend are a Nomophobic too.

So when I was blessed with a baby, my biggest challenge was not the sleepless nights or erratic routines. It was resisting the urge to check my phone again and again. Honest confession, I was pretty careless in the beginning. The first 3-4 months when my baby did not move around a lot, things were very comfortable. But once he started rolling, dragging himself and eventually crawling; he would charge straight towards my phone or laptop. That attractive, fancy bright screen!

So many times have I had to keep the phone away in his vicinity. If I take my eyes off him for 2 seconds to check my phone, there will be a foreign object in his mouth or he will be 2 meters away from where he was. I know this makes me sound like a bad mother, but it was something I simply could not control.

You know what brought me back to my senses? When I observed someone else do the same and felt this uncontrollable rage. My mother-in-law is newly addicted to whatsapp, and it happened a couple of times that she was so engrossed in reading and responding to the group chats that my son bumped his head. Or when my sister-in-law was too busy snap-chatting and he again bumped his head into something, again.

I then realized how ignored my baby must be feeling when I also do it and how dangerous it is. In addition to that, what is he going to learn? When he grows up and demands his own gaming console or mobile and is glued to it for hours, who would I be to complain?

My work life demands me to be in front of a PC all the time, but what I do now is try not to work in front of him. If I'm working from home, I do it from another room. I have gained some self control and do not require to check my phone the first thing in the morning, or last thing at night. Still working on it to probably not check it when he is up, at all.

When I'm playing with him I keep my phone away, unless I'm taking a selfie with him or there is an urgent call. This even allows me to focus on him completely. I'm pretty sure before that he must be thinking that this alien object in his mom's hands is stealing away his thunder!

Why am I sharing this? So that if you're like me, or know someone like me, you might get inspired and learn the lesson without doing it the hard way and having guilt pangs. If you're expecting a baby soon, maybe you can already start working on the anti-addiction regime. And if you're having troubles with your addiction, please get in touch, maybe I can help?

Doodle Studio by K's Kids - Product Review

My kiddo recently got this K's Kids Doodle Studio as a gift from Hamley's. Though it is something he will be able to use only after another year or so, I was nonetheless thrilled because as a kid myself I loved to draw and doodle, and would love to inspire creativity in my kid too!

The packaging is really compact and I love the Hamley's gift card! I turned into a kid myself when I opened to see it's content (I'm certainly not waiting for a year to do that, am I?)

A little about the product:
Doodle Studio reinvents the classic magnet doodle with a huge drawing surface and a bundle of activity cards. Your baby can learn to draw different shapes, do matching, learn to draw different animals and objects, and learn to tell time! Equipped with a Patrick stylus that is tailored for a baby's grip, Doodle Studio will become the best pal for your baby's burgeoning creativity!

There are 3 stages in which this product can be used, starting at 18 months and going on till your child is 3 years old! That's quite a long time, hopefully they will not have broken it by then!

It contains a drawing board that wipes itself, a stylus, shape cards, drawing aid cards and a how to draw booklet. It's so smartly put together, Kudos to whoever thought of the concept! I love how my kid will not waste papers in order to doodle, we need to be eco-friendly after all.

To draw a simple shape, all one has to do is place the shape card, outline it with the stylus and tada! The shape card also has different objects that can be further drawn using the shape. So basically your kid will learn about different shapes and objects! And later on try their hands on free-hand drawing, using the how to draw booklet!

And here is the easiest, magical part - erasing a doodle! Simply wipe it once and it vanishes. I'm sure kid's are going to love doing this, hahaha!

This one product takes care of Fine Motor, Gross Motor, Logical, Creative, Emotional & Self Esteem Development in the kid! They have not inserted any user-manual, but a PDF can be easily downloaded, and they even have a Android or iOS app for the same!

How I wish we had such technology in our times, what wonders could have been done. But I am really grateful my kid at-least is born in this era. K's Kids has many more wonderful innovative toys that can not only keep your kid's busy, but ensure of their overall development! Do check the website out, their products are available in any Hamley's stores across India.

Will you #HugYourDad this Father's Day?

Dad, a son's first hero and a daughter's first love.

When I walk down the memory lane, I remember all the beautiful moments with dad. Going to the garden, going on trips, getting pampered and showered with gifts etc.

As a child I have fond memories of hugging my father, I have pictures as proof of-course! My father is the sweetest, most loving father anyone could have asked for! He has never shouted at me, forget hitting. Whenever I was wrong, he has patiently made me understand things.

He always gave me freedom to make my own decisions, right or wrong, and learn from the wrong ones.

But why is it that after a certain age we kids stop being kids to our parents? I don't remember when was that day or month or year when things became more formal and reserved between us. And this is not just me, same goes for my brother and his relationship with dad too!

I absolutely loved this touching video by Vicks, it brought tears to my eyes. When & why do we stop hugging our father? Or our parents for that matter?

After watching this beautiful video, I have decided that this Father's Day i.e. 21st June 2015 my gift to my father will not be another shirt or tie or wallet. Those are easy ones, and honestly he does not even really appreciate them because he feels we're wasting a lot of money on big brands when he can get the same things from a local shop at a reasonably cheaper rate.

I'd rather gift him something that you can't put a price tag on, something that both he and I would remember for years to come, something that I should have done years ago: I will gift him a hug.

Actions speak louder than words, and this action of mine would tell him just how much I love him and how much he means to me (He means the world to me, by the way). It will also tell him how I simply cannot imagine life without him, and how I need him to constantly guide me, listen to my problems and give me his precious advice.

More than anything, I myself am a parent now, mother to a 8 month old. I love hugging him, and to imagine that one day he would push me away and just stop hugging me; that's simply heart breaking. Imagine the heart-break me and my brother have given to our parents!

They're the ones who have been by our side during sickness, staying up all night soothing us. They're the ones who patiently tolerated our teenage tantrums. They're the ones who did not utter a word when we took important career and life decisions on our own.

There is absolutely no way I can repay all of that, but I can definitely start paying the interest? A hug is a great way to start with! Some superheroes don't have capes, they're called DAD.

This father’s day, I am expressing my love towards my dad by participating in the #HugYourDad activity at BlogAdda in association with Vicks. You should totally go hug your dad too and let me know how it went?!

From #SmellyToSmiley

Nothing is more memorable than a smell. One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer memory at the mountains.

But not all smells are good, we are surrounded by different kinds of odor in our day to day life. And the battle against them starts from the humble abode itself!

Let me take you through a normal day in my life. I get up at 7 am in the morning, not that I am a early riser but my 7 month old baby gets up then and pokes me till I don't. And soon, I have to deal with his soiled diaper. That's the odor with which I start my day. Next, the husband has left his previous day's dirty clothes and socks lying around the laundry basket; and the odor of socks is something I'm sure you can smell right now just by reading this! Yuck! Once that goes into the washing machine, I am all set to find a wet towel lying on the floor. Sometimes I feel like putting a clothespin on my nose rather than on the clothes!

I am sure all you ladies reading have this one common woe, towels! I would give a hand and a leg to get the husband to dry his own towel or put his clothes in place! Once the towel has been put to dry, it's time to put the dustbin (that has reached till the brim with garbage) outside, for the garbage people (Uh, what are they really called, I wonder?) to collect. I hate doing this, and unfortunately the maid arrives late so I have to do this. All the fruit & vegetable peels, used tea leaves, plastic etc combined give away such a repulsive odor, that I could just faint had I not been holding my breathe for those 15-20 seconds.

To me, the smell of fresh-made coffee is one of the greatest inventions. But the kitchen has odors and fragrances of all kinds! You can literally blind-fold yourself and search for onions and garlic in the kitchen, so strong is the smell. Of-course, this time of the year it's mango season and fortunately the lovely aroma counteracts, but otherwise not. Also all the gravies made leave a pungent odor in the air longer than the time it takes to eat the meal! And God forbid if one day I forget to take the milk off the gas, or forget to put it inside on a hot day, I will get the olfactory punishment for sure!

Not everyone will admit it, but if you have a family member with 'gastric' issues, you're bound to wonder what wrong did you do in your previous birth that Karma is hitting you with that!
The bathroom, I make sure to have something in the toilet area as well as the shower area to combat all the odor. If I don't do that, you don't need to send me to hell for my worldly sins, sending me to my bathroom without any fragrant product would be enough. Enough said?

Another odor that I can think of is the musty smell walls have during monsoons, along with the leakage problems. The only solution to all my odor woes is using a artificial fragrance, that does not smell artificial though, and is super easy to install and use! And what better brand to trust on, then Ambi Pur?

Leave your odor troubles away, after all you're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry, don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.

I am blogging for #SmellyToSmiley activity at BlogAdda.com in association with Ambi Pur.

The all new Garnier Fructis Oil-In-Cream!

A few days ago, a surprise came in my mail. It was the all new Garnier Fructis OIL-IN-CREAM!

I had recently used the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Shampoo & Conditioner and loved it. But this is a completely different level! A hair cream to replace oil, now that's innovative, right?

Of-course, this is not the first hair cream there is. But wait, it says this cream can be used in three different ways - Before hair wash, After hair wash or overnight!

About the productGarnier Fructis Oil-In-Cream formula is enriched with the power of three oils- coconut, olive and almond and is in a non-sticky, light creamy texture.

The cream texture melts away without leaving sticky residue and does not weigh your hair down. Hair looks bouncy and full of life.

With its intense nourishment, it leaves the hair looking healthy, more manageable, soft and shiny. Just like a hair oil, Oil-In-Cream can be applied both on the scalp and hair lengths, and can be used anytime i.e. before wash, after wash and can even be left on overnight.

My review : I tried using it in all the three ways. 10 minutes before wash resulted to silky smooth, nourished hair. Using it after hair wash had a very serum like effect, making my tresses smooth and easy to manage. Leaving it overnight had almost the same effects as using it before hair wash, so I wasn't particularly excited about it. But maybe, it nourishes the roots deeply, without the oily stickiness or smell!

The product has a sweet, fruity smell and the creamy texture really melts in the hair without leaving any traces on my hair or my hand.

I absolutely loved the hair cream and has become my current favourite hair-care product! I'll give it a 8/10.

Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Oil-in-Cream is available in 100 g- Rs.60; 200 g- Rs.100 at a store near you.

About Garnier Fructis:
Since its launch in India in 2004, Garnier Fructis has been at the forefront of providing world-class hair care products. With rich foam and a fresh burst of fruity fragrance, its range of hair care products promises an exciting sensorial experience! The Garnier Fructis range also includes a range of Shampoos & Conditioners: Triple Nutrition, Long & Strong, Goodbye Damage, Normal, Fall Fight, Anti-Dandruff and Shampoo + Oil 2 in 1. It also includes the Garnier Fructis Long & Strong Serum, Goodbye Damage Serum and Goodbye Damage Hair oil.
